ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the Pakistan Air Force for its long record of courage and dedication, speaking as the nation observed Defence and Martyrs Day on Monday, according to Radio Pakistan.
The prime minister’s remarks highlighted the air force’s role in past conflicts, including the 1965 war, and its continued tactical skill in modern operations, per the state broadcaster. He described the force’s history as one marked by valour and sacrifice, with ceremonies and exhibitions held in Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to mark the day, as reported by Dawn.
Radio Pakistan’s coverage noted that Defence Day is observed annually to honour those who served and died for the country. In his statement, Shehbaz referenced the air force’s performance from the 1965 conflict through to recent operations, including what Geo News described as “Marka-e-Haq,” without providing further detail on that specific operation.
